Keeping Your LIPS Healthy

It's winter. Are your lips dry? Peeling? Cracking?  Ugh...I KNOW! :)  Well mine are doing the same thing, and nothing is worse than putting lip color or pretty lip gloss on dry peeling lips.  SO...here are a couple of suggestions on how to battle this common problem!

Use a good lip conditioner - NOT a chapstick.  Often times chapsticks have ingredients in them that will CAUSE your lips to dry out.  They feel good going on, but in the long run they're doing more damage than good.  SO...find a good Lip Conditioner!!  Even when your lips are behaving, apply it in the morning and at night before bed along with the rest of your skincare routine!!!  Daily maintenance will go a long way!  When your lips decide they want to misbehave and dry out on you (like mine are right now), carry that Lip Conditioner with you and apply it as needed.  Compared to a traditional chapstick, your lips will heal MUCH faster using a lip conditioner as it will act more like a treatment product vs. a quick fix.

Exfoliate your lips on a regular basis. (YES...just like your skin! :) )  Do this as needed, but don't OVERDO it (again...just like your skin...heehee) What do you exfoliate your lips with???  Be careful...there are some lip exfoliators out there, but a lot of them are really hard on your lips and may backfire.  My favorite is something you probably already have at home - SUGAR!!!!  YES, SUGAR!!!
  1. First, apply a little lip conditioner to your lips so the sugar has something to stick to!
  2. Just using your finger, apply a layer of sugar on your lips and rub gently - it really doesn't take much! Gently rub in a circular motion.
  3. Then...clean your lips OR lick off the sugar...haha!!...and reapply your lip conditioner!!  You may need to apply extra lip conditioner after exfoliating.  :)

Hopefully these suggestions will help keep your lips healthy, soft and lip-color-ready all winter long!!!

I am curious to find out what blog platform you are using? I'm having some minor security problems with my latest website and I would like to find something more risk-free. Do you have any solutions?

Our mouths need as much care as the rest of the skin. You need more than a good chap stick to battle the irritants.
