It's winter. Are your lips dry? Peeling? Cracking? Ugh...I KNOW! :) Well mine are doing the same thing, and nothing is worse than putting lip color or pretty lip gloss on dry peeling lips. SO...here are a couple of suggestions on how to battle this common problem! Use a good lip conditioner - NOT a chapstick. Often times chapsticks have ingredients in them that will CAUSE your lips to dry out. They feel good going on, but in the long run they're doing more damage than good. SO...find a good Lip Conditioner!! Even when your lips are behaving, apply it in the morning and at night before bed along with the rest of your skincare routine!!! Daily maintenance will go a long way! When your lips decide they want to misbehave and dry out on you (like mine are right now), carry that Lip Conditioner with you and apply it as needed. Compared to a traditional chapstick, your lips will heal MUCH faster using a lip conditioner as it will act more like a treatment product vs. a quick fix. Exfoliate your lips on a regular basis. (YES...just like your skin! :) ) Do this as needed, but don't OVERDO it (again...just like your skin...heehee) What do you exfoliate your lips with??? Be careful...there are some lip exfoliators out there, but a lot of them are really hard on your lips and may backfire. My favorite is something you probably already have at home - SUGAR!!!! YES, SUGAR!!!
Hopefully these suggestions will help keep your lips healthy, soft and lip-color-ready all winter long!!! |
